Christmas is coming. There is so much focus on family, fun and festivities, and immense pressure to be part of it.
This has a huge impact on childhood cancer families, who face the season with heightened sadness, uncertainty, fear and anxiety.
In the midst of treatment it's hard to know what Christmas will be like, whether or not you will even be at home, and how well your child will be to enjoy it.
You want to make it as special as possible because you don't know if it will be their last, but low on energy and finances, it's hard to make that possible.
Many families will be facing Christmas without their child - whether it's for the first, fifth or fifteenth time - it's hard.
LoveOliver wants to support families with however this Christmas is looking for them. Oliver died on Christmas Day - we know exactly what a difficult time of year it is, with the increased pressures and emotions that come with it.
We need YOUR help to make Christmas feel manageable, and hopefully SPECIAL, for the families LoveOliver supports.
We hope to do this in a number of ways, and would appreciate any help in covering the cost of......
- decorating the Hub to make it a magical place to want to come to
- hosting our special Christmas party at the Hub - with Santa, treats, gifts, family photoshoots and more
- giving families a "make-your-own Christmas cake kit" to take home to bake, then return to the Hub to decorate together
- having a takeaway and Christmas craft night for mums
- having a dads' games night
- giving families a COOK delivery to help with Christmas dinner - saving them the money and stress involved, and giving them more special time together on Christmas Day - they can choose to order a luxury Christmas dinner, or fill their freezer for over the holidays, as this is a particularly difficult time to find the motivation to cook meals.
After what they have been through and are going through, these families really do deserve Christmas to be special, and to feel supported. Thank you for helping us make this possible.
