(updated- 26/12/2025)

The trustees and volunteers at Norfolk and Suffolk Animal Trust are blown away by the incredible support for our Mutts Christmas Meal Appeal.

Christmas is now drawing to a close, and the new year is fast approaching—but the vital work our volunteers carry out doesn’t stop when the Christmas tree is packed away in the loft.

Without ongoing support and donations from the public, our dogs would not be able to look forward to future festive seasons, and the dream of a special Christmas dinner in a warm, loving home, would remain just that—a dream.

It is for this reason that we are making one final appeal.

Help us to keep their bowls full: Feed our dogs for 3 months.

We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful support we received during our recent Christmas appeal – but feeding our dogs is a year-round commitment that never stops. On average, it costs us over £4,327.20 to nourish all our dogs for a full year, making food one of our largest ongoing expenses, second only to veterinary care.

Every donation makes a real difference. Every penny we save on food is a penny we can put toward keeping our dogs healthy, active and happy.

While covering a full year’s food costs would be a tremendous achievement, we are now within reach of a more immediate goal: providing three months’ worth of meals for every dog in our care. Three months where we can focus entirely on their wellbeing, not on where the next delivery of food will come from.

By donating to our Meals for Mutts Fund, you can help ensure no dog goes hungry:

• £6.50 feeds all our dogs for one meal

•£13.00 feeds all our dogs for one day

•£91.00 feeds all the dogs in the kennels, twice a day for a whole week

No matter how much or how little you can donate- every single contribution makes a difference to our dogs.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We hope that you had a very merry Christmas and that the new year brings you everything you could wish for.

For Loki, that is more chicken and doggy yorkshire puds! (possibly not the brussels sprouts)

Each year, thousands of rescue dogs across the country find themselves seeking refuge in rescue centres during the festive season. Whether due to abandonment, neglect, or unforeseen changes in their owners lives. These animals face an uncertain future during what should be a season of warmth and love.

For 7 of our rescue dogs however, Christmas represents something far greater- a chance for hope, a loving home, and the beginning of a brighter chapter in their lives.

To Sassy the Chow Chow, Champ the Lurcher, Penny the Chihuahua, Tiny the staff, Ruby the Dashaud, and our favourite Frenchie duo, Roxy and Dukesy - December has been your month, Have a very Happy Christmas.

For our kennel dogs, waiting for their month

This Christmas, our kennel dogs are counting on us for the festive joy they’re missing out on– brimming with warm fuss and delicious treats. Our incredible volunteers will be on-site all Christmas Day, working tirelessly to feed, clean, and walk them – and to hand out Santa’s extra-special presents.

But we can’t make this magic happen alone. This year, we’re pleading for your help to make Christmas pawsitively perfect for every single pup. A donation of just £5, will guarantee each dog gets a specially cooked, homemade dinner from our volunteer chef, a gift they’ll wag their tail for. We are asking you to help us make this Christmas, magical for our dogs.

The Menu

At dinner time on Christmas day, each dog will tuck into a fabulous 2 course meal:

The main course: tasty chicken, mushy mashed potato, bushy broccoli, Christmas carrots, bearable Brussel sprouts.

Dessert: Satsumas, blueberries, melon, strawberries

Each dog is guaranteed to go to bed full and sleepy.

Don't forget to visit our Facebook page on Christmas day, to take a look at Santa's special delivery.

Should we be so fortunate to receive more meals than we have dogs, additional funds will go towards the meals for mutts fund- enabling us to feed our dogs all year round.

A thought for food

(Campaign updated 20/12/2025)

Like many dog owners, Norfolk and Suffolk animal trust, care about what we feed our dogs, no matter the cost.

You may be intrigued to know that with our kennels at full capacity, we use upwards of 13 cans a day, to keep our dogs with full tummy's.

That is a surprising £90.90p per week. £360.60p every month on food.

Due to the fantastic response to our fundraiser, We our challenging ourselves even further. Can we raise £721.20p to cover the kennels with food throughout January and February?

By donating £5 to our meals for mutts campaign, you can take us ever closer to our target.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our justgiving page.
