Story

The Porthcawl Christmas Morning swim is back again for 2024.

The annual swim, which started in 1965, attracts over a thousand swimmers from across the UK and thousands more spectators. This year we are fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.

Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity, is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, they will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

£100 could provide 8 hours of specialist advice via the Dementia Connect Support Line. With people more isolated than ever before, it's critical that people affected by dementia can speak to an expert on the Dementia Connect Support Line seven days a week.

£400 hosts five Dementia Voice group sessions. Each experience of dementia is different so that’s why it is so important to listen to the people living with it. This ensures we can support everyone in the way they deserve.

£1,000 means our expert dementia advisers can be there for over 85 people this year. This lifeline is open seven days a week for anybody who needs us.

£5,000 could enable 12 families to get support from one of our Community Dementia Advisers.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
