Chris Widdop's Funeral Costs Fundraiser

Campaign by Capital of Cycling

We were really sorry to hear recently about the death of our colleague Chris Widdop. This campaign is to help his family with funeral costs and if anything is left over to donate to a charity of their choice.

Capital of Cycling is a cycling charity in the heart of Bradford. We use cycling and related activity to improve air quality, reduce carbon outputs, alleviate transport poverty and help make the people of Bradford happier and healthier

Story

We were really sorry to learn about the death of Chris Widdop recently. He was a colleague and friend who joined Capital of Cycling in 2017 and became well known in the cycling community for helping people fix their bikes, teaching their kids to ride and just being generally kind-hearted.

He'd found his niche delivering Bikeability Training with Chris in BeCycling and also supported Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure for a time. He recently gained a post working for Margaret Carey Foundation, supporting their charity on a range of community based projects.

His death was a shock because he was young and it was unexpected. He was found by his housemate. He led a pretty frugal life and apart from a few bikes, not much has been left to the family which might cover funeral costs, so in addition to their grief, they're having to sort all this out.

We thought this fundraiser might help a little bit, so if you can donate towards the funeral costs, please do. Anything left over will go to a charity of the family's choosing.
