Since October 2023, over a million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, according to data from the United Nations. For months, people have had no choice but to walk miles upon miles without a safe place to flee to or guarantee of survival.
The ‘Co-operating in Crisis’ colleague group at Co-op are hosting a ‘Walk with Gaza’ fundraiser between 17 to 21 September to show solidarity with those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza by helping to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
We will be raising money for MAP’s Little Steps to Health project which focuses on supplying lifesaving drugs and equipment to newborn babies as well as training healthcare professionals in neonatal care.
Thank you for your support, it will make an invaluable difference to families in Gaza.
Your support could help do the following:
£10 can cover the cost of 10 laparotomy sponges which play a vital role in maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
£25 can pay for a box of caffeine citrate with 10 doses inside helping pre-term babies to breathe.
£50 can pay for 36 cutting needles which are vital in life saving interventions for newborn babies.
£100 can pay for 10 colostomy bags which help the babies to safely excrete waste, grow and reduce the risk of infection.
An exceptional gift of £10,000 can cover the cost of 27 vials of surfactant which is used to help pre-term and term newborn babies suffering with immature lungs to breathe. Surfactant helps keep a baby's lungs inflated and prevents them from collapsing.
