Citizens Advice Southampton

Our mission is to improve the lives of local people through advice, support and campaigning, to help them overcome their problems, uphold their rights and create a fairer society.

We are your independent charity providing free, confidential and impartial advice to the people of Southampton. Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. Our services are provided by a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

Story

Why does the community needs us?

Anyone can encounter challenges in their lives, and sometimes you need the right advice and support to help you through. We're here for everyone, supporting local people with issues around employment, housing, welfare support, debt, family disputes, human rights and more. We help over 100 people every week with their advice needs, many with multiple and complex issues.

"Extremely hard working, competent and friendly staff. Doing fantastic work for the community"

Our impact on the community

Our service is of enormous benefit to everyone within Southampton, but it's often the most disadvantaged in our community who benefit most. Around one-third of our clients have a disability or long-term health condition and many are financially or socially disadvantaged. Our advice helps keep a roof over people's heads, put food on the table, heat homes, understand rights, manage debts and get welfare support to those who need it most.

“Citizens Advice showed me I shouldn't give up and everybody was so patient, kind and helpful. There are no words how thankful I am."

Why we need your support

Citizens Advice Southampton is an independent, local charity which is affiliated to, not funded by, the national Citizens Advice body. We are totally reliant on local funding and fundraising to keep our service open and we need your support more than ever before.
