Story
Update as of September 2024
Completion of Phase 1!
The first phase of our refurbishment project completed in Autumn 2024.
What did we achieve?
In the post lockdown environment, we responded to our Community Survey by undertaking a comprehensive refurbishment programme to ensure that the Clarence Hall is able to host a full range of inclusive activities for individuals and groups of all ages.
We’re delighted with the results of phase 1 of the refurbishment which includes: a new and upgraded kitchen; new toilet facilities; new disability access toilets including a baby change area; a small bar; and a new accessible entrance into the hall with access from the A40 and car park.
Why did we do this?
An essential part of the project was to make the building more accessible for people with disabilities, for older people and for parents using buggies and pushchairs. Prior to the refurbishment, we were aware that lack of access and outdated facilities were impacting on the ability of a wide number of beneficiaries to attend and benefit from this essential community venue.
What support have we had?
We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our campaign, including the Welsh Government, the National Lottery Community Fund, Community Foundation Wales and our very many local supporters.
