Story
Clifton Primary School is a wonderful small school of 70 pupils, based just outside Penrith in the village of Clifton. We fundraise tirelessly to provide the best possible education for the children in our community.
Although our school is small and mighty, we are very short on space. We do not have our own school hall where children can eat lunches; we have nowhere inside our school to teach PE lessons on cold, wet days and we have no space to hold assemblies or school performances. All our floorspace within school is utilised for childrens learning and we are very cramped already.
The other issue we face is that the local village hall has been condemned and is going to be demolished, therefore the space school did have for whole school get-togethers is no longer available either to the school nor the community.
Alongside this we are going to be opening a Nursery facility within school as there is no other early years provision in the village, but we face the problem of where to put them!
Therefore, we have decided to hire a portaclassroom to expand the size and floorspace of school. This additional space will mean, for the school, that we can open up our new Hedgehogs Nursery, as well having a flexible space for the children for assemblies, PE etc. As well as benefit the school, the additional space will be able to be accessed by the community, in light of there being no village hall brownies, cubs, the WI etc. will be able to use this space outside of the school day. The school is also eager to embed itself at the heart of the local community and this additional space means school can run events for the wider community such as community lunches, knit and natter, a community reading hub to name but a few ideas we would like to action.
However, with this we are incurring significant costs, so we are on a mission to raise enough money for our portaclassroom we are going to be BBQing, Walking, skydiving, eating puddingall in the name of expanding our school so our children get the best possible environment to learn in and make sure our fantastic little school is at the heart of the community.
Can you help us give the children of Clifton school an even more outstanding education?
