Old Penarthians 2nd and Women rugby teams are taking on a mammoth (virtual) run. We will tackle the equivalent distance of setting off at Penarth, going along the coastal path to Prestatyn, up over Offas Dyke and finishing back in our home club in Penarth. The total distance will be 1047 miles! We will work in teams to run/walk 260 miles per week to achieve this target.
So why are we doing this? We want to raise funds for our local Welsh Children's Charity, LATCH.
LATCH does amazing work in supporting children and their families whilst receiving treatment for cancer and they also provide support to the staff who work within oncology at the Children's Hospital for Wales.
Our team members will follow all lockdown rules with running taking place in gardens, on treadmills and around the streets of Penarth to support this amazing cause.
Total miles will be combined with the aim of completing this challenge in the month of June.
With one of our club players working on the children's cancer ward in Cardiff, and another player's family receiving support from LATCH during their treatment at present, we know that this charity is invaluable in helping everyone affected.
We are looking for all your support as we take on this great challenge to raise much needed funds at such a difficult time.
