Space to Talk: Help us build three new appointment rooms in East London

Organised by The Listening Place

We’re raising £40,000 to help us create three listening rooms at our new site. Each room will host over 3,000 appointments a year, allowing people who feel suicidal to speak openly about their most distressing thoughts in comfort and privacy.

Suicide kills 19 people a day in the UK, but free, effective support is increasingly hard to access. We offer fortnightly 50-minute sessions with a carefully trained volunteer, allowing people to talk openly about their suicidal feelings in a welcoming and completely confidential setting.

Story

Help us build warm and welcoming spaces for people struggling with suicidal feelings

We’re currently working hard to transform a former gym near Liverpool Street station into our new East London site.

With your help, we’ll turn a bare open-plan space into a sanctuary, where trained volunteers offer sustained support in a calm and confidential environment.

Your donation will fund:

Waste removal and cleaning – clearing out the gym to start fresh.

Plastering, partitioning and soundproofing – creating three private rooms where visitors can feel safe sharing their suicidal thoughts.

Heating and cooling systems – ensuring that every visitor feels comfortable during their sessions at The Listening Place.

Decoration and furnishing – warm lighting, neutral colours, and comfortable seating to create spaces that feel soothing and non-clinical.

Every pound you can contribute brings us closer to opening our doors and offering compassion, confidentiality and time to people who need it most.
