'Coffin Up for a Cause' sees us, the undertakers at Ian Brown Funeral Directors, swapping hearses for hiking boots this year, as we take on a unique 5 island challenge to support Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
'Coffin Up for a Cause', is a tribute to the coffins we use in our profession, which are named after Scottish Islands. As The Coffin Crew, we will be scaling the highest peaks on the islands of Arran, Mull, Jura, Harris, and Tiree. Each climb will take anywhere from 1 to 9 hours, depending on the island.
This idea started off as a bit of a tongue-in-cheek challenge, but the more we thought about it, the more it felt like the perfect way to honour those we care for in our profession – and help others still fighting lung cancer.
Our Peaks:
Goat Fell, Arran – 874m
Ben More, Mull – 915m
Beinn an Oir, Jura – 785m
Clisham, Harris – 799m
Ben Hynish, Tiree – 141m
Funds raised will directly support Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, helping them with critical research, early detection, and vital support services for those affected by lung cancer.
Please support us if you can. Every step we take (and there’ll be thousands!) is in honour of those affected by lung cancer – and with your help, we’ll turn miles into meaningful change.
