Story
Founded in 1970, The Mount Camphill Community is a specialist residential and day college in Wadhurst, East Sussex, offering a craft-based education for students aged 16-25, as well as a pioneering cohousing supported-living community for people with and without additional needs.
In June 2026, six students along with five co-workers will embark on a five-day retreat, celebrating the end of their third college year. This special time away in a holiday cottage, allows them to process their achievements, challenges, and aspirations in a supportive and reflective environment, marking a significant milestone in their educational and personal development. It is a time for self-discovery and growth, as they look back on their experiences and prepare for what lies ahead.
To make this experience possible, we need to raise £5,000! One of our key fundraising activities to raise money towards the cost, will be a sponsored walk at Bewl in May, when the students will walk alongside the co-workers and tutors. They will aim to walk up to six miles around part of the reservoir. All funds raised on this page will go towards the Biography Retreat.
Every donation, whatever the amount, will help provide these students with an unforgettable opportunity for reflection, connection, and personal growth. As in previous years, all students and their families from different cohorts put their efforts into supporting the group who will attend this year's retreat, who in turn will support them in subsequent years. It is a real social experience.
Your support and encouragement mean the world to us.
Messages left with your donations will be shared with the walkers on the day to keep them motivated.
Thank you very much.
