Comers Bridge Appeal

Campaign by Midmar Men's Shed

This fundraiser is to replace the main span of the bridge that crosses over the burn, to match last year's replacement of the North-West section. Midmar Men's Shed coordinated last year's work and are pleased to do the same for this project.

The Midmar Men’s Shed was established after seeing the success of other Men’s Sheds in surrounding towns, with the aim of bringing similar activities closer to our remote area. With relatively limited facilities, the area of Midmar relies on a strong network of social clubs and community initiatives

Story

The footbridge crossing Comers Burn links the hamlets of Glenwood and Comers. It provides a safe route for all who walk or cycle around the area whether it is to get to/from school, for people attending the village hall or anyone taking recreation.

To ensure it is safe and will stand for a while longer we now wish to remove and replace the main span that crosses over the burn. The cover photo above shows what this section looked like during the heavy rains in Autumn 2022; imagine the force of the water!

If you live in Midmar or the surrounding area and have ever used the bridge - and would like to do so for years to come - please consider making a contribution. It does not matter how much, as many contributions can easily add up to quite a lot.
