Social media shapes their identity. Gangs give them purpose. Pornography corrupts their minds and drugs provide them with an escape from their mental, physical and spiritual turmoil. They don't have a place to turn to - no connection with their local community.
At Islamic Network, based on over a decade of grassroots youth engagement, we've identified three root cause issues and - and their solutions!
We have seen first hand that if a young man or woman is confident in their identity, has a clear sense of purpose, and has the tools to succeed in life. Coupled with a connection with their community - with Allah's help, they will be ready to overcome the challenges life places in front of them.
We do this by working with local community organisations to engage young people weekly at the grassroots level in their community by implementing our online and in-person youth engagement framework and quarterly in collaboration with our network of partners.
With over a year of lockdowns, the impact on our young men and women has been catastrophic. There has never been a more crucial time to step up and act.
