Our team of volunteers in Uganda is working to build a community center located in Aligoi village, Kachumbala county (Bukedea district). This represents a long-term investment in vulnerable areas, which can provide significant betterment to many women and children. Our community center will show residents that we are there to help — and to stay.
See below the foundation of the community center:

So far, our team (7 masons and 4 helpers) successfully managed to produce 6,000 bricks using our Interlocking Stabilized Soils Blocks (ISSBs), which are made from compressed earth. Compared to standard kiln-fired bricks, ISSBs are sustainable friendly because they reduce carbon emissions as well as other benefits:
- ISSB does not need to be fired to gain weatherproof capability.
- ISSB is assembled without mortar and thus reduces the amount of cement
- ISSB have a high-quality finish without the need for additional plastering
Your donations would help us to continue building bricks for the community center. We need in total 12,000 bricks to be able to finalize our project and your help would allow us to buy sand, cement and murram, which we combine to produce the bricks.
While sponsorship contributions provide women and children with access to dynamic services such as water, sanitation, and hygiene programs will be available at our community center, we will cover the costs of community center construction and operational support through separate fundraising campaigns.
Investing in our community center and programs is just as critical as sponsorship contributions because they help transform the bricks and mortar of a building into an oasis of hope and change.
It's a big project going to impact lives and also happy to get a place we can call home.
