Story

First Memorial Cup Football Tournament 2024

Newark Youth London is organising our first Memorial Cup Football Tournament to celebrate and recognise the contribution of past leaders/activists who made significant contribution to the footballing and wider community.

Our first Memorial Cup Football Tournament will recognise 2 great past leaders from our football and wider community. We will be fundraising to give sadaqah jariyah in both their memory.

Ubedun Noor Chowdhury (Boss) – Founder of Newark Youth London, a great leader and person, who using his own money and at a time of real discrimination provided footballing opportunity to local youths in Tower Hamlets. His legacy is where in Newark is today.

Abdul Kadir – Founder of Shadwell Youth Organisation, another great leader and human being, who brought the youths of Shadwell Gardens to stay out of trouble and play football, making Shadwell one of the most successful football team in Tower Hamlets.

“Boss was a selfless man and he sacrificed his time and money to help others. He built Newark from scratch and got others involved. He was a great leader, living by the code and no doubt others followed his example.” Emrul Islam, Chair of Newark Youth London

“Kadir bhai as he was fondly called, cared for the youths of Shadwell. He dedicated his life to making Shadwell a leading organisation. Away from football he helped so many other people and families in their time of needs.” Khayrul Alam, Shadwell Committee Member

The one-day football tournament for over 40’s will be held on Sunday 6th Oct 2024, Stepney Green Astro-pitch,11:30am-5pm.

Please come and support your team and even if you are not playing come and support the cause.

We aim to raise as much money as possible to give Sadaka Jariyah in their names. All monies raised will go to projects in Bangladesh; like feeding the poor, water pumps in remote villages and small houses for widows/disabled people.

Please donate generously directly or through your team’s page.
