Story
From November until March 2026, Compass Wellbeing, a Community Centre in the heart of Taunton, were delighted to secure funding to offer our Wellbeing Café as a “Warm Space”, providing a hot meal and drink, an opportunity to charge mobile devices, take a warm coat, hat, gloves and other warm clothes, alongside toiletries and basic living essentials to anyone who needed it.
Sadly, once the funding comes to an end in March, without your support, we will no longer be able to support the 60+ people who have accessed our “Warm Space”, who despite improving weather, will still be hungry and in needs of basic essentials.
Most of our Warm Welcome visitors have been rough sleepers, sofa surfers, those living in temporary accommodation and/or living on a very low income. The one thing that they have all valued, over and above a warm meal, has been the opportunity to feel “normal” for a moment in time. Our visitors have been able to take a seat and relax, have been made to feel welcome by the Wellbeing team, and have been able to socialise with each other and the wider community in a non-judgemental space.
With your help we would love to continue to welcome these people to Compass Wellbeing during the Spring and Summer months, providing a meal, drink and daily essentials where needed. Continuing to nurture the relationships that we have established and bringing some sunshine into the lives of those we now consider friends, even on the cloudy days.
Every £6 donated will help us to provide support to one person, once per week. The more we raise the more people we can support and the more frequently we can extend a “warm welcome” to those most in need in our community. We aim to support 30 people per week so are looking to raise £5500. Please donate now, and don’t forget to add Gift Aid if you can. Thank you.
