Story
The people Every Life work with in Kampala, Uganda and Kenya have been hit hard by lockdown. With no government furlough schemes, food banks or loans available to the most vulnerable, many families have been left struggling to survive.
Although COVID-19 hasn't taken off as expected in East Africa, lockdown has been just as deadly. Every Life have been supporting families with emergency food parcels and disease prevention training among other things.
I am thankful that you have rescued me because hunger had wanted to kill me. Thank you so much, and think about me as I think about you. - Joseph, Uganda
As countries emerge out of lockdown, we want to support families to rebuild their lives. We love the all-round way that Every Life works, from providing micro grants with business training, to providing counselling and emotional support to those suffering from violence, abuse or simply the ongoing pressure of providing food for their children in such a tough environment. Every life has value and we want to stand behind those who are suffering by doing what we can.
Over the 4 weeks until 2nd December we are walking the distance from Connect Church Chorleywood to Every Life in Kampala. According to Google this will take us 1789 hours and is almost a quarter of the way around the world! We want to raise a pound for every kilometre - £9244!
