Story
On Saturday 27 June 2026, I will be taking part in the Ormeau 5k parkrun and will be hoping to raise some money for Action Cancer, a charity that has become incredibly important to me.
In June 2025 I was diagnosed with cancer at the base of my tongue and in late 2025 I underwent several weeks of intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.
It was a difficult and gruelling time, not only for me but for my family, friends and colleagues. Like many people affected by cancer, life was put on hold while I focused on getting through each day and each stage of treatment.
Thankfully, I'm now well on the road to recovery and feeling incredibly grateful for the support and care I've received along the way.
Taking part in this 5K is my way of giving something back and supporting the incredible work of Action Cancer. Every day, they provide life-saving services, practical support and care to people and families across Northern Ireland, helping them through some of the most challenging times of their lives.
Crossing the finish line won't compare to the challenges of the past year, but if it helps raise awareness and funds for such an amazing charity, every step will be worthwhile.
If you're able to support me, I'd be hugely grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Together, we can help Action Cancer continue the incredible work they do for local people and families.
Thank you for your support.
Conor
