We are an independent Scottish charity for individuals and families affected by bleeding disorders such as Haemophilia and von Willebrands. We provide straightforward and trustworthy information; opportunities for peer to peer support; and advocate for the best possible treatment and care.

Story

During the 1970s and 80s blood transfusions and the blood products for treating Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders were vulnerable to Hepatitis C and HIV.In Scotland everyone treated for a bleeding disorder was infected with Hepatitis C, 478 people and 60 were also infected with HIV. It has been estimated that 2,500 people were infected with Hepatitis C by a blood transfusion, and some were also infect with HIV. There are just 251 survivors with a bleeding disorder and 471 following a transfusion.Bereaved families and others are working to erect a lasting memorial to those they have lost and to recognizing the suffering caused to so many.

The project belongs to the families themselves and is facilitated by Haemophilia Scotland.
