Story
It is a staggering reality that 1 in 3 children in Dundee live below the poverty line
With increasing food costs, fuel costs and an increasingly difficult financial landscape for both working and unemployed parents and carers in Dundee, providing children with the essential clothing that they need to help keep them warm and safe is becoming an expense that many simply struggle to afford. For families already in crisis, a seemingly simple expense like a pair of shoes or a winter coat can seem completely out of reach.
Family have fled due to domestic violence and are in temp accommodation, kids aged 6 months, 5 and 7. They have nothing with them - no pyjamas or school uniform. Mum has nothing for the baby.
Growing children need clothing, and the continual need for seasonally appropriate clothing is a huge concern for families who struggle with other basics like keeping the light on or putting tea on the table every night.
The girls have been coming to school all week with no tights on and no coat - it's freezing outside.
We provide support for children who need it most
Last year we supported over 6,000 children with access to basic clothing such as underwear, cosy jumpers, coats and shoes.
D, 15 really needs some new shoes. He has one pair and both shoes are burst open at the side. His feet are soaking
With your help we can make sure that children have the basics that they need to grow, learn, play and thrive
Every £50 we raise ensures that a child is fully supported with dignified and quick access to the clothing that they need, when they need it.
Together we can make sure that no child goes without.
