It is apparent that the coronavirus has become an unprecedented and rapidly evolving global pandemic with poverty-stricken countries such as Afghanistan suffering from severe consequences of it.
With a shattered healthcare system, world health officials fear this pandemic could wreak havoc in Afghanistan, a country with over 37 million people. Ongoing war, poverty, inadequate healthcare and large numbers of internally displaced refugees all add up to make it one of the most exposed countries to the virus. The streets of Afghanistan continue to see children and the elderly working long hours to provide a meal for their families. In most circumstances it is only this child or grandparent that is the lifeline for their families. Soon after the lockdown enforcement by the government, prices of essential food items have soared, wages of daily labourers have plummeted and food has diminished, placing the already 2 million malnourished children in Afghanistan in a deadly situation.
Donate generously to raise enough money and provide Afghans and their families with essential food packages (flour, oil, rice, beans...etc). It is our duty to provide the most vulnerable population of Afghanistan with the necessary aid they need and most certainly deserve to make it through this difficult time.
Take a moment of your day to spare a thought and prayer to the millions of people in Afghanistan who do not have a home to self-isolate in. To the countless of Afghan children risking their health working on the streets to provide food, water and medication for their families. To all the men, women and children who have to bargain their health and welfare for an income.
