Story

Cowley Road Works, the charity which organises the iconic Cowley Road Carnival.

Cowley Road Works is the charity which runs the Carnival you love. Carnival costs a massive £130,000 to run each year. As well as the costs on the day, this includes our year-round work in the community, which makes Cowley Road Carnival so special.

In 2023 our theme is 'Our Nature, Our Future' and we will be concentrating on arts and community projects which highlight aspects of the natural world and the environment - locally, nationally and internationally.

On the first Sunday of July, Oxford takes to the streets with colour, rhythm and art. Our year round community work all leads up to this – 1,000 artists, 700 procession participants, and over 50,000 audience. Representing 52 countries and cultures, Carnival celebrates art, diversity and community.
