The Loneliness Epidemic
The rate of loneliness and social isolation particularly among older people remains at levels often described as an epidemic. Covid-19 deepened this situation, leading to more house-bound, isolated and lonely older people. The cost-of-living increase is further compounding this; food, fuel and hygiene poverty are making social interaction a luxury beyond their means.
How you can help
We are determined to do all that we can to address this situation and this campaign is your opportunity to partner with us by contributing financially towards our work. All donations will enable us to continue to develop our work by equipping volunteers through skills-based training; supporting churches by providing them with tools to create befriending schemes; and inspiring individuals to come alongside those most isolated in their community.
I have nothing but high praise for the befriender. My cousin is not an easy chap! Both myself, social prescribers and his doctor have failed to get him to look after himself properly. Then the befriender (with a smile of sunshine and heart of gold) came along and she seems to have the ‘magic touch’. She has given him the spirit to live on into his nineties rather than ‘giving up.
