Story
In 2026, Creation Theatre celebrates its 30th birthday. That’s three decades of producing bold, inventive theatre and gathering audiences in unusual spaces across Oxford to share unforgettable stories. From shows in the BMW plant, Blackwell’s, and the Westgate Centre, to productions in the Maths Faculty, Oxfordshire pubs, and even the old Staples Superstore, Creation has become part of the cultural memory of this city.
Alongside our productions, our thriving education department has worked tirelessly to give young people the joy of theatre-making, storytelling, and self-expression. Now, as we approach this milestone, we’ve launched our 30 for 30 Campaign: our goal is to raise £30,000 to mark our 30th birthday.
Like many arts organisations, we were hit hard financially by the pandemic; our reserves were almost wiped out. Since then, we’ve fought every day to keep going — and now we have a chance to help secure our future and make bolder, braver, more innovative work. We have no regular subsidy as an arts organisation - our income comes from ticket sales, occasional grants from trusts and foundations, and donations from our extraordinary audience. You keep us going (in every sense).
We are a charity so all donations are tax deductible, and we can claim 25% gift aid if you are a UK resident. With your support, we want to:
▪️ Continue to roduce bold innovative productions while paying all creatives, crew and performers fairly and in line with industry standards.
▪️ Expand education bursaries, offering more free bursary places to young people.
▪️ Grow our Pay It Forward scheme, giving tickets to charities and young carers who might not otherwise experience live theatre.
▪️ Create a trainee producer role, nurturing the next generation of theatre-makers with vital on-the-job experience.
This is our moment to move from surviving to thriving. Will you join us?
Every gift, large or small, will help us celebrate 30 years of Creation with strength, vision, and joy. Together, let’s make the next 30 years even more extraordinary.
