Cromwell Coronavirus Closure

As an independent museum, the Cromwell Museum depends on income from visitors in order to function. As such the current Coronavirus epidemic has hit us very hard. Can you donate to help us get through this difficult period and ensure our survival?

We are a small independent museum in the heart of Huntingdon, home to the world's best collection of items relating to the life and times of the 17th century soldier and statesman Oliver Cromwell. We bring to life this controversial figure and the turbulent times in which he lived 'warts and all'.

Story

The Cromwell Museum is home to the world's best collection of items relating to the life and times of Oliver Cromwell, whose story we aim to tell 'warts and all'.

The Museum has existed since 1962, but became an independent charity in 2015. We depend on the generosity and support of our visitors to fund our operations. The Museum was last refurbished in 1989; thanks to the generosity of several grant funders we were able to fund a major refurbishment of the Museum over the last few months, reopening on 1 March 2020 to great acclaim.

This timing was quite cruel as we unfortunately (and rightly) had to close with the UK wide Coronavirus pandemic two weeks after reopening. Having been closed for several months with the refurbishment our reserves are depleted and with a lack of visitor income we are now under threat. Can you help support us through this difficult period?
