Story
On July 27th 2025 a team of brave (and soon to be damp!) members of Caterham Round Table are taking on the legendary Lewes to Newhaven Raft Race! This isn't just any race – it's a challenging, 5-mile journey down the River Ouse, from the historic town of Lewes to the coastal waters of Newhaven Harbour. We'll be navigating the river in a homemade raft, battling currents, other wacky vessels, and probably a lot of laughs (and a bit of exhaustion!).
This isn't just about showing up on the day! Our team has been working hard behind the scenes, from designing and building our unique raft (wish us luck!) to training ourselves for the paddle. It's a true test of teamwork, endurance, and a good sense of humour. We're getting wet, we're getting tired, but we're doing it all for a fantastic cause.
While the race promises plenty of entertainment, our real motivation is to raise vital funds for the local community here in Caterham. Caterham Round Table is an events-based social club for men who are passionate about trying new things, beating midweek boredom, and most importantly, giving something tangible back to our area.
By supporting our Raft Race challenge, you're directly contributing to boosting local community projects as well as helping local charities and individuals in need.
100% of the money raised from our Raft Race challenge will go directly into our Caterham Round Table charity fund. This fund is then distributed throughout the year to local charities, community groups, and individuals within the Caterham area who need it most.
