Story
Many women in Cambridge are coping with trauma, abuse, and poverty without access to the support they need.
CWRC provides free, trauma-informed counselling for women who would otherwise go without it.
Last year, we received over 100 referrals from mental health services. Many of these women could not access support through the NHS due to long waiting lists or short-term provision, and could not afford private therapy. For many, this is the first time they’ve been able to access therapy.
Our counselling service provides a safe, consistent space where women can begin to process their experiences and find stability. But right now, this service is unfunded.
Our goal is to raise £15,000 to fund an expanded counselling service for one year.
Your donation will mean women in Cambridge can continue to access the support they need.
What your donation does
£10 supports the safe delivery of sessions
£50 funds one counselling session
£200 funds four sessions
£1,200 funds one month of counselling for up to 24 women
Every donation directly funds counselling sessions.
Counselling has been lifechanging
More than counselling
Our counselling service is part of a wider, holistic offer that includes:
- domestic abuse recovery programmes
- creative health
- advice on housing and benefits
- practical support when facing poverty
Together, these services support women facing multiple challenges to rebuild stability and independence.
Before CWRC, I struggled to access counselling because of long waiting lists and the cost of private therapy.
