Story

Cyclone Nisarga makes landfall, gusty winds and heavy rain in Kokan

Tin roofs of houses blew away leading to extreme difficulty to the poor.

Many villages are left without electricity and basic necessities due to the trail of devastation that that cyclone has left.

2.5 million people are affected by power disruptions in four districts.

900-odd villages in the 13 tehsils whose roads were blocked by felled trees and broken electricity poles during the Cyclone Nisarga, roads of 46 villages are yet to be restored.

Authorities had evacuated up to 65,000 people from several coastal districts in the state.

However, the total number of affected may be more than millions as the cyclone has affected the lives of people from around 1,978 villages of which 128 on the shore faced the true brunt of nature.
