Here at the Butterfly Trust, we want to improve the quality of life for people living with Cystic Fibrosis across Scotland, their families and carers. We do this by providing support that will relieve stress, increase personal and professional opportunity and maximise income to alleviate financial hardship.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, life limiting inherited condition. People with Cystic Fibrosis suffer from chronic lung disease among other health challenges such as digestive problems that cause malnutrition, CF-related diabetes, arthritis and liver disease.
Daily challenges include intensive treatment, limited energy levels, pain, chronic fatigue, breathlessness with exertion, reduced mobility and side effects of medication that include anxiety and brain fog. A substantial proportion of our clients are living in poor social circumstances, often isolated and disadvantaged by poverty as well as poor health.
