CYZ has already made a difference for a generation of local young people —now we’re here for the next. Our mission every day is to be a leading example of the power of youth work so young people have space, voice and time to discover their passion and their purpose.

Story

Your Miles, Their Moments

Why this matters

At Carlisle Youth Zone, we see it every day: it’s the small moments that make a big difference. Young people experience these moments at CYZ through a range of activities, including 6 Youth Clubs a week, an Inclusion Youth Club, and a wide range of targeted projects and programmes.

Over the last year, 3046 young people have held a membership with CYZ.

Amongst that incredible reach, each one has had their own journey:

Moments of discovery.

Moments of new opportunities.

Moments of confidence.

Moments of friendship and a sense of belonging.

And what we’ve learnt is simple - it’s those moments that matter most.

Right now, those moments can be seen in opportunities like Connections 2026, the National Theatre’s nationwide youth theatre festival or our Equal Chance project, where our Patrons and local businesses run workshops, host work visits, and take young people through mock interviews, and in launching a brand new Youth Club for young people in Longtown.

That’s why we launched #TeenCYZ – Miles for Moments

Because every mile creates opportunities, helping us continue to provide these moments for the next generation of young people in Carlisle. From the Great North Run and Great North Swim, to community challenges like Run Carlisle, our supporters are already turning miles into something meaningful.
