Capability Scotland delivers exemplary care, support and education for disabled children and adults across Scotland.

Story

Capability Scotland Dumfries & Galloway provide support for 600 disabled people region wide, offering services such as:

*Community support in employment, education, and leisure activities for people with physical disabilities between 16 and 64 years old

*Day Opportunities Service four days per week for adults with acquired brain injury

*Self-Directed Support Personal Assistant brokerage service

The people who use our services are vulnerable and often attend due to complications following strokes, acquired brain injuries and hypoxic brain injuries resulting from cardiac arrest. Our care staff are all trained in CPR and using a defibrillator.

Early CPR and defibrillation is shown to more than DOUBLE the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest. When someone has a cardiac arrest every second counts, and our nearest public defib is a 5 minute journey in a car and requires a code from the ambulance service.

Recently in our services we have had to deploy the public defibrillator and as a community we have decided to campaign to raise money for our own in-house defibrillator to ensure that we can provide our customers with early intervention. Seconds save lives!

Thank you for your support.
