Story
My brother (Richard) and I will be running 70 miles on 14 June 2025 along Hadrian’s Wall, from Carlisle to Gateshead. We were both looking for a challenge/event to take part in after previously doing another event hosted by the same company (Rat Race Adventures), where we did a 20-mile obstacle course at Burleigh House.
When I signed up last year, the furthest I’d run at the time was an unofficial half-marathon. My training didn’t start in earnest until the beginning of 2025, after suffering a knee injury last year. Richard was fortunate to get a place in this year’s London marathon, which complemented his training, whilst I’ve been navigating the country roads near me. Now we’re both at the “longer” run stage of training, there is definitely a feeling of having bitten off more than we can chew, with doubts starting to creep in.
I’ve therefore decided to raise money on behalf of The Duncan & Toplis Foundation, a charity that is dedicated to supporting local community projects and organisations. It is a great cause to raise money for and will be a perfect motivator to help me get over the line. All money raised will help a wide range of local charitable organisations, including those focused on the arts, mental health, and opportunities for young people, to name a few. Therefore, please help me support The Duncan & Toplis Foundation in reaching our goal of £500 to put towards these worthy causes.
