Following completion of remediation activity, the club is seeking to upgrade their changing room facilities to provide more, flexible changing, showering and toilet space especially for ladies, youths and those with special access needs in line with current standards. This will enable expanded use of the club by existing and new members including other water sport users for the benefit of the local community.

We are inviting each sailing member to donate £25 or more towards our fundraising target of £5,000. Members can, of course, donate less and other members may also wish to donate. With Gift Aid, we hope to meet that target easily. This approach has been chosen rather than a compulsory levy to allow flexibility to suit individual circumstances and choices.

This donation-based fundraising will form part of a collection of approaches to fund the development. It is anticipated that the club will need to raise over £50k with an intention to get an equivalent grant amount through sportscotland funding. Other approaches being used are:

1. Set aside around £40,000 from club funds to underwrite a significant portion of the fundraising target.

2. Seek grants from funding organisations other than sportscotland. We hope to raise at least £10,000 through this approach.

3. Institute a targeted fundraising campaign seeking significant donations from former members and other supporters of our club. Donations received would be ring-fenced for the changing rooms project. We hope to raise at least £5,000 from these donations.

By raising a significant sum from a broad range of members, we hope to be able to tangibly demonstrate to potential funders a good level of commitment and support from the membership. All being well, we will have confirmed funding through the course of 2024 and can start work early in 2025 ready for the new sailing season
