🏃‍♀️ Our DDRC Healthcare team is taking on the Plymouth Half Marathon, 10k and 5k Races to raise vital funds for our charity!

DDRC Healthcare is a not-for-profit organisation and registered UK charity (no. 279652) based at Plymouth Science Park. Since 1980, we've been providing world-class services in diving medicine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, medical training, and research.

The Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC) began in 1980 in a small, converted boat shed at the Fort Bovisand diving school in Plymouth. While we're best known for treating divers with DCI, they only make up around one-third of our patients. We also use Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy to treat a range of other life-changing medical conditions, such as serious infections, carbon monoxide poisoning, problem wounds, gas embolism and the long-term effects of radiotherapy.

Although the NHS funds our emergency treatments for a limited number of conditions, this support is under constant review and does not cover many of the vital services we provide. That’s where your donations can make a huge difference.

• Fitness to Dive Telephone Consultations: Helping divers speak directly to our medical team for advice on health concerns before their medical assessments.

• Medical Equipment: Funding vital equipment like heart monitors and ventilators to ensure we continue delivering intensive care support.

• Patient Accommodation: Covering accommodation costs for patients travelling from afar to receive their treatment.

• Education & Training: Supporting our doctors and nurses to attend conferences and training, keeping them at the forefront of medical advancements.

• Research: Investigating how HBO therapy can improve wound healing and exploring ways to maximise its effectiveness.

• Physical Improvements: Updating patient areas and facilities to improve comfort and care.
