FROM DEAN
A while ago I decided to take up running in an effort to improve my general health and fitness. I joined some friends for a wolfrun (a 10k trail run / obstacle course) and even though I could just about walk afterwards I really enjoyed it. I had planned to do it again this year but all 3 events fell on days I couldn’t do. So my friend suggested I move up a gear and do the Cannock Chase half marathon. Since I clearly lack any common sense I said yes (it seemed like a good idea at the time). Since I’m going to be putting myself through the most physically demanding activity I’ve ever done, Dee said why not do it to help raise money for Amicii. I have had the absolute pleasure of spending time helping with the foster dogs Dee has taken in for Amicii. I started helping when I heard through my stepmom Gill about a one dog who was struggling to be around men. That’s when I met Thelma. It’s fair to say she stole my heart straight away. She struggled for a long time and on more than one occasion showed her stubborn streak earning herself the well-deserved title “Diva”. But eventually she warmed to me with the help of her walking partner Brina, Dee’s own dog (and another diva). Thelma has now been adopted. I was so happy when I found out and admittedly a little sad knowing I wouldn’t get to see her anymore. I am determined to continue to contribute to Amicii having learned a lot from my time with Thelma and Dees many other foster dogs. I hope one day I’ll be in the right situation to have my own dogs, until then I’m going to try and do what I can to help Amicii. So please give what you can to help this amazing dog rescue, they need and deserve it
