Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organisation that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. We save the lives of malnourished children. We ensure everyone can access clean water, food, training and healthcare. We enable entire communities to be free from hunger.

Story

Millions of people have been affected, with many left without access to safe shelter, food or clean water.

An estimated 2,600 people are confirmed to have died, with the death toll expected to rise.

People in Myanmar were already facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with over a third of the population in need of aid. One in four people already did not have enough to eat.

Now the situation is even more critical. The country’s authorities have declared a state of emergency and made a rare request for international humanitarian aid.

With roads, network and power lines destroyed, it is a race against time to reach people in need. Despite many challenges, Action Against Hunger has been working in Myanmar since 1994. Our strong network of local partners means we are able to rapidly respond.

The full scale of the earthquake’s impact will take time to emerge. But already it’s clear that the needs are immense.

More funds will allow DEC charities like us, to save more lives. Please donate now.
