Auchtermuchty Bellvue Colts Defibrillator Fund

On a typical training night we can have around 100 kids playing football. On top of that we have high number of adult volunteers & parents present. We are fundraising to install a defibrillator at Low Road Park, in the hope we never need to use it.

We are a youth football team based in Auchtermuchty, Fife. We run a variety of teams for both boys and girls, with all ages, abilities & backgrounds welcome. We aim to improve the health & well being of the kids in the community, while building an infrastructure where they can thrive.

Story

At least 12 young people, between ages 12-35 years, die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions in the UK every week.

In the UK there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year where emergency medical services attempt to resuscitate the victim. However, the survival rate is low just 1 in 10 people in the UK survive.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest can happen anywhere at any time to anyone. Ensuring more facilities have an AED will help save lives.

Recently, the whole world was shocked and saddened by the events surrounding professional footballer Christian Eriksen who suffered a cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020 championships. Fortunately though he was saved by quick and effective CPR and defibrillation.

On any given night, there could be over 100 people attending football training, from young children to the parents who watch and the adults who coach. Furthermore the park is also used by dog walkers and children playing in the play park. Any one of these people could suffer from cardiac arrest at any time and having access to a defibrillator within the park could be the difference between life and death.

Your donation will help Auchtermuchty Bellvue Colts install a Defibrillator at Low Road Park and fund the training for the local community to use it.
