Story
Our classes have been developed and fully tested over the past 10 years in both our studios, in care homes and in community settings.
Our fully trained, compassionate teachers use our Art in A Suitcase product to deliver structured art classes to people living with dementia and the most vulnerable in our society.
Each class has a Dementia Arts teacher and assistant. A staff member – usually Activities Coordinator – is always present during our visits and an official relationship agreement is signed by both parties prior to our first class.
Classes are highly structured with easily recognisable subject matters and the painting is developed over a number of easy to follow stages. Strong, contrasting colours and quality art materials are used and the finished picture is mounted and signed. Each class lasts an hour with a maximum of 8 participants (plus any carers).
Over our ten years of experience in running classes, we’ve recognised ways to make our sessions as inclusive, comfortable and dementia-friendly as possible.
