Dementia Safeguarding Scheme

The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme is an initiation created by a partnership between The Memory Matters Foundation and Devon and Cornwall Police .

Memory Matters Foundation raises awareness, provides vital dementia services, and supports families facing dementia—because 1 in 3 of us will be affected. No one should face it alone. Together we can bring hope, understanding, and life-changing support to those who need it most.

Story

Your support could help transform the lives of people living with dementia. Thanks to generous donations to the Memory Matters Foundation, we are currently piloting an innovative Dementia Safeguarding Scheme with Devon and Cornwall Police in Plymouth, helping people with dementia stay safer, feel more supported, and maintain independence within their communities.

The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme provides wearable wristband and hangtag which use Near Field Communication to store electronic information about the wearer, such as their name and next-of-kin. The device can be scanned by a smartphone if the person living with dementia needs assistance.

This pioneering project has only been possible because people chose to donate, and now we want to go further. Our ambition is to make this life-changing support available to as many people living with dementia in Devon and Cornwall as we can.

Every donation through our JustGiving page brings us one step closer to making that vision a reality. If enough people get behind this campaign, together we can help ensure more individuals and families affected by dementia have access to the support they deserve.
