Derwent Brass: Road to the Royal Albert Hall
In 2026, Derwent Brass achieved a landmark moment in the band’s history by qualifying for the National Brass Band Championships Final at the Royal Albert Hall for the very first time in the Championship Section.
For a community brass band from Derbyshire, this represents an incredible achievement and the culmination of years of hard work, commitment and musical ambition.
The National Final is the pinnacle of brass band competition in the UK, bringing together the country’s leading bands to perform on one of the world’s most iconic stages. To stand amongst the very best bands in the country at the Royal Albert Hall is a moment of enormous pride for everyone connected with Derwent Brass.
Founded in 1992, but with a heritage traced back to 1860, Derwent Brass has built a reputation for musical excellence, innovation and community engagement. The band has become known not only for contest success, but also for ambitious concert performances, collaborations and projects that aim to make brass banding accessible, exciting and relevant to modern audiences.
Alongside performances and competitions, the band continues to support charitable causes, community initiatives and local music-making across Derbyshire and beyond. Entirely powered by the dedication of volunteers and musicians, Derwent Brass is proud to represent the region both on and off the stage.
This campaign will help support the band’s journey to London for the National Final, contributing towards transport, accommodation, rehearsal and preparation costs as we prepare for this historic occasion.
Every donation, large or small, will directly support the band and help make this once-in-a-generation opportunity possible.
Thank you for supporting Derwent Brass and for being part of our journey to the Royal Albert Hall.
