The Christmas Lights and Trees in Banff and Macduff are organised by a group of local, working people, who volunteer their time to arrange all the paperwork, fundraising and preparation work every year for the lights. Many people believe the lights are provided by the Council, but this is not the case. The group operates as a registered charity and must raise enough funds to test, repair and maintain the lights annually, in addition to completing all the administrative work required for them to go up.
This year we are an entirely new group of volunteers who have taken time out of our lives to ensure the lights are installed as normal. There are a lot of faulty lights we were unable to get repaired but are already working on plans to rectify this next year.
With your support we can purchase parts, equipment and some new lights, in time for next Christmas, and keep our towns looking bright and festive every December for years to come.
