Surgery for Bonnie

Organised by Dogs' Friends

Bonnie is a Cavachon who spent her early years at a Commercial breeding premises (often known as 'Puppy Farms'). Bonnie has never known anything of the outside world, but is a true survivor - learning how to be a happy, loved dog in her foster home.

Dogs' Friends is a charity that rescues and re-homes hundreds of dogs each year in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset areas. All our helpers are volunteers and without donations from dog lovers we simply could not afford to rescue as many as we do. May we please rely on your support? Thank you.

Story

Like many other puppy farm survivors, Bonnie has not had all the care she deserves and sadly after she arrived with us, we found out that she has bilateral Luxating Patella's as well as hip dysplasia and other common health issues and veterinary needs. Bonnie has already needed emergency surgery for grass seeds in her paw, treatment for ear infections and sore/itchy skin and her routine neutering.

Now Bonnie is feeling better and has settled into her foster home we need to address the serious issues with her legs. Whilst some dogs with luxating patella can manage without surgery, Bonnie is not so fortunate. It is hoped that performing the surgery on the worst leg will considerably improve Bonnie's quality of life. Following her initial recovery Bonnie will need a course of physiotherapy. Our vets will then reassess and see if Bonnie will need further surgery on her other leg.

This surgery is essential for her quality of life - we want her to be pain free, safe and happy. That being said, it does come with a huge price tag of at least £4,500, which is a tall order for a small rescue like ours.

Please consider donating to help Bonnie run free and enjoy life to the fullest.
