Story
Honey’s story with Dogs Friends began in 2022, during her darkest hour. A retired breeding dog who had sustained a traumatic spinal injury, she was facing the very real threat of being put to sleep. Thankfully, we were able to take her in and provide the life-saving spinal surgery she so desperately needed. Because of her extensive and ongoing medical needs, Honey remains in the permanent care of Dogs Friends; while she wasn't able to find a traditional adoptive home, she found a family in us and her dedicated long-term foster carers.
The road since that first surgery hasn’t been paved with easy days. Honey’s journey has been one of tireless recovery—countless hours of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and treatment for painful haematomas and ear issues. Every time she faces a hurdle, she clears it with a waggy bum. She is a dog that simply "can't catch a break," yet she never lets her spirit waver.
To know Honey is to be loved by her. She adores being the centre of attention and lives for the moments she can tuck herself right by your side to soak up all the affection you can give.
Unfortunately today, Honey’s world is at risk of going dark. Despite weeks of treatment for stubborn eye ulcers, she now needs urgent corneal grafts in both eyes to save her sight.
After everything she has fought through—the spinal flares, the itchy skin, and the endless vet visits—we refuse to let her lose the ability to see the faces of the people she adores. Honey has spent her life looking for love; now, we are looking for a miracle for her.
Help us keep Honey's world bright. She has never given up on us, and we will never give up on her. ❤️
