But half of prisoners are functionally illiterate. Being unable to read is one of the main barriers to finding employment on the outside.
A gift of just £5 can send a book to a prisoner. If you increase this to £50 you can resource an entire reading group! We work with prison education providers, chaplains and volunteers to run reading groups which encourage discussion and empathy:
