Disability Awareness Week offers an opportunity for all Fort Hays State University students to engage in eye-opening discussions and activities.

Fort Hays Honor Society, a student-led organization with online and on-campus members, hosts Disability Awareness Week every spring. This three-day event raises awareness and decreases stigma for disabilities - whether learning, mental, or physical. Each day is devoted to a different disability. Students can learn what it is like to live with a disability by completing simulations, hearing from panelist, and talking with others who are currently overcoming their disability.

With this event being cancelled in 2020, the Fort Hays Honor Society is hoping to expand and build to make the 2021 event their best yet. During these times, it is crucial to show compassion and care for each and every person. The goal of the Honor Society is to provide resources and activities to better their academic career. Please consider supporting their mission by making a gift to their upcoming Disability Awareness Week project.

Funds donated will be used throughout Disability Awareness Week for simulation activities, payment for inspirational speakers to event advertising and t-shirts.
