Akshaya Patra UK is feeding over 2.1 million children at schools and after school clubs in India and in the UK through our life-changing programmes. We tackle hunger & malnutrition together, to support children in their endeavour to learn.

Story

Today, Diwali for many is about spending time with loved ones, sharing a good meal, making a charitable offering, and seeking prosperity. Akshaya Patra invites you to share a meal with those who are hungry for food and for knowledge. This Diwali, please offer hope and light to children who are eager to learn but are wrapped in the darkness of hunger. The season celebrates knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness.

£10,000 will help us feed 501 children in India for one full school year via our midday meal programme, and at the same time, help feed 693 hungry children in the UK at schools as part of our Hot Meals and Homework programme.

Please offer your generosity and multiply your goodness, this Diwali!

About Diwali: Diwali is a major festival celebrated by millions of people around the world, primarily in India, Nepal, and other countries with large Hindu populations. The word "Diwali" comes from the Sanskrit term "Deepavali," which means "a row of lights," and the festival is often referred to as the Festival of Lights. Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
