Story

The Durham Miners' Association (DMA) Brass Band are a recently promoted First Section community brass band located in County Durham. We perform at a range of concerts, contests and events throughout the year and are a very welcoming group both musically & socially.

We’ve had a successful time recently:

- 1st place at the North of England Brass Band Championships 2023 & 2024

- Qualified three times for the National Finals, since 2020

- Winners of the Bold as Brass entertainment contest in Wakefield

- Performed alongside the Cory Band at the Durham Brass Festival

- Heard on Classical FM & “spotted” on local TV news items

- Collaborated with artist for up-and-coming projects

- Awarded best trombone section, percussion section and middle of the band, as well as the highest placed second section band and 2nd place overall at the Durham Count Brass Band Association Contest on November 2024.

However, the ongoing costs to maintain the daily running of the band are considerable.

An insight into some of the band's expenses include servicing of instruments, purchasing music to enhance the bands repetoir and encourage the ongoing progression of players, practice room hire and conductor fees, stationary and maintenance of office equipment such as photocopiers and more ...

Can you help us on our fundraising journey?
