Visit the charity's profileIn celebration of World Cerebral Palsy Day and the #MillionsOfReasons Awareness Campaign, we are asking you to please consider a donation of £10 to support children and young people living with CP.
In the UK, approximately 150 children are diagnosed with cerebral palsy every month, the equivalent of 1 in 400 births. There are an estimated 30,000 children with cerebral palsy in the country and more than 17 million people worldwide.
The ability to move your body is something that most people take for granted, such as walking, talking, going to the toilet or feeding yourself. For children living with cerebral palsy, nothing can be taken for granted. Cerebral Palsy is caused by a brain injury, whilst this injury doesn't get worse the effects may increase with age. Children born with CP will need therapy for their entire life.
At CPotential, we believe there are #MillionsOfReasons to ensure a child reaches their full potential.
CPotential is definitely the first place of choice for our daughter, I will never be able to thank them enough for everything they have done and still do for our family. We feel truly blessed to be part of the CPotential family. Ivys mum
We offer families a one-stop-shop of tailored integrated rehabilitation that is child focused, play based, and most of all, fun. To round off our holistic support, we provide bursary supported programmes, funding guidance, wellbeing courses, counselling, educational, financial, and legal advice.
We know from the families we support that the NHS often struggles to provide the long-term support children with CP need, which means many children miss out on the vital services to improve their independence and quality of life.
Ivy is a bold and sassy 4-year-old girl who has left-sided hemiplegia due to a prenatal stroke in her mum's womb. Because of the complex nature of Ivy's condition, she requires several different therapies to help her grow and develop, and she is unable to live the life of other girls her age.
When Ivy came to CPotential, her left arm and hand were incredibly weak, and she was unable to use them in isolation. But she has practiced, practiced and practiced in sessions of physiotherapy, conductive education, occupational therapy and music therapy. We've enjoyed creative baking, sliming, painting and even avocado facemasks.
Now, after all the fun and hard work and with a further intensive block of constraint induced movement therapy, Ivy has increased her range of movement and strength in her left shoulder and elbow joints. Ivy now has consistent grasp and release of her left hand. The impact of this is Ivy will be able to participate better in everyday life.
Without the help of the CPotential team, Ivy may not have reached these goals.
By donating just £10 today, you can help towards vital therapy provision for children like Ivy who haven't had the best starts in life. We can think of #MillionsOfReasons why you should.
The advice, support and care we receive is priceless and the variety of activities is endless, making them a 360 facility where they can help every aspect of Ivy's difficulties.
Thank you.
