We train Assistance and Therapy Dogs in Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and Wiltshire to help change the lives of young people who are Physically Disabled, Autistic or have Down's Syndrome, PTSD or other emotional issues. Helpful Hounds also embeds dogs within Schools that have Special Needs Students.

Story

Your support will make a real difference to the lives of young people partnered with an Assistance Dog such as Isaac who was non verbal and withdrawn.

“10 days after Alfie, The Golden Retriever Puppy, joined our family Isaac mounted his Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Horse, Poppy, for the first time. Previously, he had been too frightened, but Alfie gave him confidence. After RDA, a little voice said, ‘poppy fun!’. I did not recognise the voice, I looked at Isaac and he said again ‘mummy poppy fun!’. His voice was different, it was calm. Isaac had never spoken anything other than a single highly motivating word such as ‘Ice cream’, ‘drink’, or ‘cake’. Isaac had just spoken for the very first time to express his feelings.” Alfie’s Mum .

Now, Alfie is a fully trained Assistance Dog, working with Autism and is Isaac’s full time Partner, Helper and Best Friend.
